Every source this publication has cited

Every article carries its sources at the foot. But if you wanted to check, across all of them, what material this publication actually works from, you would have to open 51 articles and go through them. So we gathered the sources from every article mechanically, removed the duplicates, and set them out in one place.

HOW WE MADE THIS

The rules for this page

  • We list them exactly as they are written in the articles. We do not tidy the formatting afterwards, or add a DOI that was not written
  • They are gathered automatically from every article. Nothing is copied out by hand, so when an article is corrected, this page is corrected with it
  • We also say how many articles have no sources at all
  • Where the same material is used in more than one article, we count it once

FACT

The material we are working from

  • Of 51 articles, 26 carry a list of sources
  • The sources written in the articles come to 82 entries
  • Removing duplicates leaves 46. Of these, 37 are academic papers, 4 are documents from public bodies and organisations, and 5 are interviews
  • 16 items are used in two or more articles

WHAT WE DON’T KNOW YET

Where this page itself is weak

  • 25 articles carry no list of sources. Of these, 22 are first-person columns by the navigator and by their nature have no academic sources. The three that deal with facts and had no source list (The swiftlet as a bird / Grades look at appearance. They do not look at the process / one article scheduled for 19 September) have now been given one. The counts on this page and the “Used in” lists are not yet fully in step with the articles, however. We will bring them into line at the next regeneration
  • DOI formatting is not consistent. Some articles carry one and some do not. We will not add a missing DOI on this page on our own initiative, so we are bringing the articles themselves into line
  • What is listed here is the material we have read, not the whole of the research on edible bird’s nest. There must be far more papers we have not read
  • There is material we have not been able to reach in the original and have only been able to confirm through a review. Where that is so, we say it in the article

About this page

TSUBAMEDIA is run by Japan Bansho Co., Ltd. That company handles edible bird’s nest as a business and is not a neutral third party. The material listed here is what we consulted in order to write the articles. It does not mean that we were involved in any of this research.

The list is gathered automatically from the source section of each article. The counts and the wording change as the articles are updated.
